Fancy E-mail Signatures

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

@ Idebaik, we use Google Apps mail for a long time already. It’s simple, fast, and very easy to maintain, especially when you compare it to third-party softwares, such as RoundCube or Horde, for example. And, as long as you need less than 50 email accounts, free!

But Google Apps mail got a small weakness : it’s impossibility to handle HTML signatures. For people who want a simple signature (name – email – phone), that’s alright. But when you want to make your signature attractive (using colors and/or images), Google just do not support this feature – yet -. And for us, signature is something important. In a few lines a signature must not only contain the basic information about yourself and your company, but also a bit more than that.

That’s why we had to find a way to implement these HTML signatures in our messages. Then we found WiseStamp. WiseStamp is a Firefox extension allowing to… that’s it, embed HTML signature automatically to your Google Mail messages.

With a bit of HTML knowlegde, you can be able to create very good-looking signatures. Below are two examples of signatures generated with WiseStamp (each employee of idebaik got his own color). Easy to read and containing all the essential information about each employee and our company (Facebook + Twitter included), these signatures are there to show that an e-mail signature is not only a way to say who you are, but also to express the image of your company to your recipients.

Wisestamp is available for Firefox, Flock, Chrome, Thunderbird and Safari (beta). Click here to visit WiseStamp website.
